Eye Movements: Building a Stable World from Glance to Glance
Frequent exploratory eye-movements called saccades pose for the visual system the problem of combining information from successive fixations into an apparently seam less conscious experience. A new study shows that information from successive fixations is combined, not by fusing fixation 'snapshots', but by integrating more complex visual attributes at a mid-high level of analysis.
متن کاملEye Movements as a Means to Evaluate and Improve Robots
With an increase in their capabilities, robots start to play a role in everyday settings. This necessitates a step from a robot-centered (i.e., teaching humans to adapt to robots) to a more human-centered approach (where robots integrate naturally into human activities). Achieving this will increase the effectiveness of robot usage (e.g., shortening the time required for learning), reduce error...
متن کاملThe Use of Eye Movements to Evaluate the Effects of Driver Age on Risk Perception in an Advanced Driving Simulator
Younger, novice drivers (16 year olds with 6 months driving experience or less) continue to have the highest fatality rates. In the past, this was attributed to increased risk taking or undeveloped psychomotor skills necessary for driving. More recently, the high fatality rate has been attributed to the relative inability of younger, novice drivers to acquire and assess information relevant to ...
متن کاملMultimodal Classification of Driver Glance
This paper presents a multimodal approach to invehicle classification of driver glances. Driver glance is a strong predictor of cognitive load and is a useful input to many applications in the automotive domain. Six descriptive glance regions are defined and a classifier is trained on video recordings of drivers from a single low-cost camera. Visual features such as head orientation, eye gaze a...
